Trip Summary
Located in Québec’s remote Gaspé Peninsula, Gaspé Coastal offers a remarkably diverse fishing program built around Atlantic Salmon, Striped Bass, and sea-run Brook Trout. Guests stay at the Nadeau House, a restored 19th-century riverfront lodge on the Grand Cascapédia that blends historic charm with modern comfort. Each day is tailored to conditions, with experienced guides putting anglers on the best available water. Depending on the season and weather, guests may swing flies to Atlantic Salmon on famous rivers, sight-fish to Striped Bass on shallow saltwater flats, or hike into the backcountry for native Brook Trout. It is one of the only destinations in North America where anglers can pursue all three species in a single week.

Seasonal Fishing
Calendar
The season begins with fresh Atlantic Salmon entering the region’s rivers, offering early opportunities to swing traditional wet flies. At the same time, Striped Bass begin moving onto the shallow coastal flats and estuaries, creating exciting sight-fishing opportunities when conditions line up.
Mid-summer brings the most diverse fishing of the season. Atlantic Salmon remain a primary focus, with excellent opportunities for dry-fly fishing during stable water conditions. Striped Bass continue to cruise the flats and shoreline, while sea-run Brook Trout begin appearing in select rivers and estuaries later in the summer.
Cooler temperatures signal the return of classic fall conditions on the salmon rivers. Atlantic Salmon fishing can be excellent as fish continue moving through the systems, often with fewer anglers on the water. Sea-run Brook Trout may still be available in certain rivers, providing a rewarding bonus opportunity late in the season.
Lodging & Accommodations
Accommodations
Guests of Gaspe Coastal stay at Nadeau House, a beautifully restored historic home in Cascapedia-Saint-Jules that serves as the heart of the operation. While meals and social time take place in the main lodge, all guest accommodations are located in two nearby outbuildings just steps away. Each guest unit includes two private bedrooms with queen-sized beds and a shared bathroom between the suites. The layout offers a comfortable blend of privacy and convenience, with updated furnishings and thoughtful touches throughout. After a day on the water, guests can relax in the main lodge’s cozy sitting room or unwind in the screened-in porch, a peaceful spot to share stories or enjoy an evening drink. With limited capacity and a focus on personalized hospitality, Nadeau House delivers an inviting and intimate experience in the heart of the Gaspé.
Food
The culinary experience at Nadeau House is warm, home-style, and deeply rooted in the region’s traditions. Each morning begins with either a grab-and-go breakfast for early risers or a full, made-to-order breakfast for guests with later starts. Coffee, tea, and light bites are always on hand to help you start your day right. Midday meals are enjoyed streamside or on the boat, featuring fresh sandwiches, snacks, and seasonal accompaniments packed to keep you energized on the water. After a long day of fishing, guests return to the lodge for a relaxed social hour followed by a hearty home-cooked dinner. Menus rotate through classic Québécois and Atlantic Canadian fare, featuring dishes such as roast chicken, seafood chowder, and fresh salads, all prepared with care and served family-style. The food is wholesome, satisfying, and well-suited to the rhythms of a fishing-focused trip. Dietary preferences can often be accommodated with notice.

7-Day Itinerary
Each day is carefully planned to maximize your fishing success while experiencing the best of what this destination has to offer. Itineraries are flexible based on conditions and guest preferences.
Gaspé Coastal’s standard 6-night, 5-day program runs from Monday to Sunday, but custom packages can be arranged for varying lengths of stay. Travel to the Gaspé Peninsula typically begins with a flight to Bathurst, New Brunswick (ZBF), often via Air Canada’s daily service from Montreal (YUL). Upon arrival, the Gaspé Coastal team will provide a 1.5-hour ground transfer to the lodge. Other arrival options include flights into Bonaventure (YVB) via Pascan Aviation or charter, or rail service to Campbellton, New Brunswick. All standard transfers from Bathurst, Bonaventure, or Campbellton are included in the package. Upon reaching Nadeau House in Cascapedia-Saint-Jules, guests will settle in, enjoy dinner, and meet the staff for an orientation.
Each morning begins with breakfast at Nadeau House. On early start days, like those targeting Salmon, guests will be provided with a convenient grab-and-go breakfast. For later departures, a full made-to-order breakfast is served in the dining room. Atlantic Salmon are pursued on foot or from traditional poling canoes, depending on water levels and river access. Striped Bass are targeted on the coastal flats using technical poling skiffs. Your guide team will adjust your daily plan based on tides, water clarity, and conditions to maximize success. Lunch is packed each day and enjoyed riverside or on the boat. Evenings feature cocktails, appetizers, and family-style chef-prepared dinners back at Nadeau House.
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred back to your departure hub — typically Bathurst (ZBF), Bonaventure (YVB), or Campbellton — to begin your journey home. Most commercial return routes connect through Montreal.
Frequently Asked Questions
GET IN TOUCHGaspe Coastal is a great fit for anglers of all skill levels. Whether you’re swinging flies for Atlantic Salmon or sight fishing for Striped Bass on the flats, the guides adjust each session to your pace and ability. No previous experience is necessary, though comfort casting in wind and managing line on foot can help you get the most from the trip.
Start by brushing up on your casting skills, especially for delicate presentations to Atlantic Salmon and quick sight shots for Striped Bass. Bringing your own well-matched gear is ideal, but demo rods and reels are available if needed. The weather can vary throughout the week, so pack for cool mornings, warm afternoons, and possible rain. Trident provides a complete recommended gear and packing list upon booking to help make preparation easy.
Gaspé Coastal is primarily designed for anglers focused on Atlantic Salmon and Striped Bass fishing, with full days on the water. However, the team is happy to build custom itineraries for non-angling guests. Options may include hiking, sailing, local art tours, and other activities based on individual interests. While the lodge has a fishing-oriented atmosphere, they are glad to accommodate families and non-anglers looking for a tailored experience in the Gaspé region.
Gaspe Coastal hosts just 6 to 8 anglers per week, keeping the experience personalized. While the lodge controls access to several private salmon beats, some of the salmon water is public and can see moderate pressure during peak weeks. The saltwater flats, by contrast, are lightly pressured and rarely shared with other anglers.
Gratuities and incidentals at Gaspé Coastal should be paid in cash, either in US or Canadian dollars.
Gaspe Coastal uses standard North American 110-volt outlets.
Cell service may be available depending on your carrier. However, there is reliable Wi-Fi on site for emails, messaging, and basic connectivity.
Both double-hand (Spey) rods and single-hand rods can be effective for Atlantic Salmon fishing in the Gaspé region. Many anglers choose to bring both, as different pools and water conditions can favor one setup over the other. Single-hand rods are commonly used for dry-fly fishing and lighter presentations, while Spey rods can be helpful for covering larger pools or swinging flies more efficiently. We’re happy to provide more specific guidance on gear depending on the time of year and your casting background. Trident provides a complete recommended gear and packing list upon booking.
Yes, guests should bring their own rods, reels, and terminal tackle. Trident provides a detailed gear and fly list upon booking.
Quebec’s Gaspé Peninsula experiences a range of conditions throughout the summer. June is typically cool and fresh, while July and August often bring warm, sunny days. Daytime temperatures can occasionally reach into the 80s, especially in late summer, but mornings and evenings tend to be cooler. Light rain and sudden weather changes are common, so it’s important to come prepared with layered clothing and reliable rain gear.
