Description

The Atlas 9' 5wt is our all-around freshwater performer. Whether you're presenting dry flies on a spring creek, fishing a nymph rig on a freestone, or tossing streamers from a drift boat, this rod offers the ideal blend of finesse and power for trout-focused scenarios. Built on a fast-action blank and weighing in with a swing weight of just 56.2 gm², the 9' 5wt delivers crisp loops, excellent accuracy, and all-day comfort. It's a versatile, confidence-inspiring rod that handles the full range of trout tactics with ease.

Blank

Graphene Nano-Resin - At the core of any rod is the blank. It has to be light. It has to be strong. But most importantly, it's got to be accurate. In order to make the BEST fly rod, we had to start with the best materials - and, today, that's graphene. Graphene is 200 times stronger than steel yet lighter than graphite. But a great blank isn't just great materials. We spent over two years refining the design of one single line weight in order to bring you the most accurate and versatile blank ever.

Swing Weight - 56.2 gm²

Guides

REC Cerecoil Stripping Guides - The best rod starts with the best components. Cerecoil Guides are super lightweight and built with titanium to stand up to the elements.

REC Recoil Snake guides - Like the stripping guides, at Atlas, only the best will do. We chose recoil guides for their exceptional durability and lightweight.

Reel Seat

Custom asymmetrical anodized aluminum double up-locking reel seat - to secure your reel, we chose an industry-standard double uplocking reel seat, then made it better. We oversized the rings and made the reel seat asymmetrical so you're never fumbling around to attach your reel.

Rod Tube

Powder-coated aluminum rod tube - We wanted to make sure your investment is protected, and the aluminum rod tube does just that. It also comes with a matching rod bag.

Atlas Signature 9’ 5wt Fly Rod Review

The Atlas 9' 5wt marks Atlas Fly Fishing’s first true step into dedicated freshwater models. While the 6wt has crossover appeal for both fresh and salt, this 5wt was built squarely with trout anglers in mind. It’s designed as a do-it-all trout rod, the kind of tool you can take to the river knowing it will handle dries, nymphs, and streamers. Like every Atlas Signature Fly Rod, it’s built on a graphene blank with premium componentry that rivals rods costing twice the price. If you’re looking for a trout workhorse...

Atlas 9' 5wt fly rod

"This is a really nice well built rod, tube and rod sock. It is a fast powerful rod. It weighs 3. 3 oz on my digital scale. Fast rods can be very stiff. I had a helios 2d 5 wt that was like that. I feel this rod load in the back cast. I cast a s/a infinity line just fine. It cast an air flo 5wt power taper 60 plus feet with no false cast or haul. I have a scott "G" for the delicate work. The Atlas will be my streamer rod. Over all I am very happy with this rod. Good job Ben."

It’s still winter up here

"It’s still winter up here in Jackman…well, maybe not so cold but the streams are high and Big Wood Pond is covered for now. We need some sun! I’ ve tried to hike in to one of my “secret” ponds but the woods road is too muddy and I’m sure the game trails are still covered in snow and ice. All this to say that my new Atlas hasn’t caught a thing on the field in front of the Town Office. Hey, I’m not discouraged. I’m very happy with the way it handles."

Atlas 5wt Outperformed in Everglades

"Atlas 5wt handled any fish hooked in April Everglades trip from - Butterfly Peacocks, LMB, Cichlids, Oscars, Bowfin, Bluegills. Plenty of backbone to handle hard charging peacocks. Best 5wt it proved it's worth special place in my rod quiver, thanks."

My second Atlas Rod

"A wonderfully light yet stiff rod. Following on from the #8 rod, here’s a #5 rod that I’d like to take fishing in Patagonia next year. I also like my #8 for seabass and baltic seatrout"

This an awesome rod. Well

"This an awesome rod. Well constructed. Really easy to cast. So far one of the best rods I have tried. Rivals or beats some of the $1000 rods. Really happy with the purchase so far."

A superbly built fly rod

"A superbly built fly rod with top quality components. I personally like the overall lightness of this rod as well as the cork grip that fits my hand well. A lot of thought went into this fly rod and it shows through the quality of the rod. It casts as well or better than the rod it is replacing."

Great value and performance

"Great value and performance. This is my 3rd Atlas. I purchased the 8wt and needed to replace my 5wt and 10 wt rods. I looked at nicer rods but kept coming back to how much i liked my 8 wt and the quality of the rod. The 5 wt and 10 wt are fantastic as well"

Great rod

"Excellent 5wt rod, a great Jack of all trades, highly recommend. I also own the atlas 8 weight and the 4 weight."

I was looking for a

"I was looking for a nice backup 5wt rod to take to Western Maine to fish for brook trout and landlocked salmon. You said take it and fish it for a week and if I don't like it bring it back. I am so glad I bought this rod, spent 4 days throwing casting streamers and dry flys into the wind. There is enough backbone to effectively cast streamers and yet delicate enough to place dry flies. I found myself fishing this 5wt all week. Thank you for the recommendation, really nice rod. I also cast a high quality RIO line, wonderful rod. It will go to upper. Dam next week 😉"
